CLEANSING BREATH

This breathing exercise brings in good energy and clears out any negativity we might have accumulated in our body. Keep it light, it’s just for cleansing the body and mind. Over time you’ll realize some other benefits, too.

Method:

1)      Sit Full-Lotus, Half-Lotus, or cross-legged. Keep the back straight (use a cushion if you need it).

2)      Palms are up-turned and rest at the knees. Thumb and middle finger form a circle.

3)      Breathe in fully through the nose and fill your belly with good, light chi.

4)      Breathe out fully via the mouth and breathe out negative, dark chi.

5)      Repeat until time is up.

Notes:

  • Feel the in- and out-breath, filling up with the good and expelling the bad. Any waves of the mind will subside shortly.
  • Keep your attention on the belly, the dantian. You can hear it in the out-breath when you have it right. Be fully aware of your breathing.
  • Use mental imagery, such as light entering your body on the in-breath and filling your body up from your center, and then blowing out a dark substance.
  • Breathe this way during forms and take them to a new level.
